Early Childhood Program

St. Rose's at St. Mary's is a Catholic School that welcomes children of all faiths. We focus on helping grow young students with a love and desire for God's love in a wholesome Catholic environment.

We provide a developmentally appropriate, fun and nurturing program that focuses on the whole child, while growing their love for Jesus Christ. Children are challenged at their level through child-initiated and teacher-led activities. Along with traditional academic learning, your child's day will include faith based lessons, songs and activities. We partner with families to provide a quality program that fosters a lifetime of love and learning!

The younger classes school together with St. Mary's Catholic School children, grades 1 to 8. This provides a community of learning, the opportunity for buddy programs, mentoring and more!

Early Childhood Program

Ages 3 & 4
St. Mary's Catholic School has Early Childhood classes and childcare for children, ages 3 and 4. As of 2018, St. Rose’s Garden moved its classes into St. Mary's Catholic School. Thus becoming St. Rose's at St. Mary's!

It has made a huge difference for the elementary school children(Kindergarten through Eighth Grade), as well as for the Preschool and Pre-K students. What do we mean? By having the early childhood students as part of a bigger entity, the students in the early childhood classes have the richness of an environment that is “greater” than themselves—they are part of a larger school community in which they thrive, grow and develop skills sooner than if they were by themselves. For the students in grades K through 8th grade, they develope the skills of being the “big” brothers and sisters to the early childhood classes.

Both groups have benefited greatly not only being “housed” in the same building, but also being part of a total and holistic educational environment, starting at age three through the eighth grade! Students and staff alike; love being all together under one roof.

Further, early childhood has a curriculum developed for their specific growth. Those who need to be challenged in mathematical and/or reading skills can have their abilities developed due to access to programs available in the school across the grades.

Several times a week, Preschool and Pre-K students receive instruction in Spanish, Physical Education and Music from certified teachers, just as they are for all the students in St. Mary's Catholic School.

In addition to the curriculum and extracurricular classes, childcare is available starting at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. (Academic classes run from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.) Hot lunch is available daily during the school year and summer camp programs are available as well!

St. Rose's at St. Mary's Catholic School is an ICCP (Idaho Child Care Program) provider. The purpose of the ICCP program is to support families working toward or maintaining employment. Eligibility is based on household income and family size.

Kindergarten

Age 5 (Children must be five years of age as of the first day of school to enroll.)

Kindergarten students are also part of the bigger school entity, and have the richness of an environment that is “greater” than themselves, which allows them to thrive, grow and develop skills earlier than in a traditional environment.

Physical Education is scheduled for Kindergarten four times weekly, and music classes are held two times each week. Students will learn to use the St. Mary's school library and will be able to check out books halfway through the school year. Kindergarten class attends mass each week with the rest of the upper grades of St. Mary's Catholic school. Kindergarten students are also part of our school buddy system and have older children to help mentor them throughout the school year and at Mass each week.

The children also participate in all school assemblies, events, musicals and concerts. Although we teach general studies and academics, a large area of focus is on social skills, manners, respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness.

Kindergarten class is full time 8:15-3:05 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:15 -2:15 on Friday with childcare before and after school. Hot lunch is available daily during the school year and summer camp programs are available as well!
